Workshop Sessions

Putting strong teachers on a Building Leadership Team doesn't automatically create leaders. At Roosevelt Charter Academy, we discovered that difficult conversations, peer accountability, staff negativity, and schoolwide problems still landed on administrators' desks.

So we stopped focusing on having a leadership team and started intentionally teaching leadership behavior.

This interactive session shares the structures, mistakes, uncomfortable conversations, and practical tools Roosevelt used to move teacher leaders from representatives and messengers to leaders who take action. Explore the difference between leadership and friendship, practice responding to authentic staff scenarios, and examine ways to distribute ownership and accountability.

Leave with adaptable tools, including a leadership behavior scorecard, accountability roundtable structure, redirection language, and realistic leadership scenarios. Gain a framework for transferring schoolwide responsibilities from administrators to teacher leaders who own problems, people, and progress.
