Recognizing warning signs of gun violence and knowing how to respond are critical components of school safety. This interactive training from the Colorado Department of Law introduces educators to Colorado's Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) law and other preventive measures.

Designed for teachers, administrators, counselors, and school threat assessment teams, the session covers:

• Recognizing warning signs: Identify risk factors for gun violence and understand how to work with school threat assessment teams.
• Understanding ERPOs: Learn the basics of Colorado's law, including step-by-step guidance, best practices, and practical tips for the petition process.
• Addressing specific risks: Examine limited circumstances involving teen dating violence when firearm access increases risk.

Through scenarios, case studies, and practical tools, gain knowledge to support appropriate preventive responses. Participants will also receive information about additional virtual training opportunities for school staff.
