- Are you seeking constructive feedback on your charter application prior to submitting it to your school district or authorizer?
- Would you value input on the strengths and weaknesses of your application?
- Is your proposed school adequately focused on quality?
- Have you developed the means to ensure successful implementation of your plan?
The Colorado League of Charter Schools offers a two-part charter application review process for new school developers. Our team of experienced reviewers will carefully read each section of your application and provide constructive feedback on the quality of your application as measured against our Quality Standards for Developing Charter Schools. All charter school applicants are strongly encouraged to use these standards to guide the development of their school and the writing of their application.
The League will utilize grant funds to do an application review when possible. In order for us to cover the costs of this service, we ask that you submit a Stage 4 Planning Grant application
, with enough lead time for the grant application to be reviewed and approved, prior to the draft application deadline. Upon being approved for the planning grant, you can participate in the Charter Application Review process by submitting a high-quality, completed draft of your application. If you wish to have an application review completed without using grant funds the cost is $2500.
Charter applications must be emailed to the League at least two months prior to the district or authorizer’s deadline for application submission. A near final draft of the school’s proposed budget (in Microsoft Excel), and other key attachments should also be included. Please, be sure to schedule this review ahead of time so we can plan for it.
Application Feedback Report
Participants will receive a report from the League's review team with detailed feedback about their charter application. It is highly recommended that this report be used to revise your application and resubmit it to the League for a second read-through and a final round of suggested revisions. It is then suggested that feedback and revisions be incorporated into your final application prior to submitting it to your authorizer.
