Senator Gardner's Perspective on Educational Priorities | Wednesday, October 7 | 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM

Senator Gardner is in tightly contested Senate race this year and his position on educational priorities is important to Coloradans as well as with charter school proponents. Join us for this conversation with the Senator, moderated by League President Dan Schaller. The issues at the national level and especially in the Senate mirror those in Colorado where funding, choice, equity and school quality are especially apparent. The League stands for the ideals of Quality, Choice and Equity for all students, and we’ll be asking questions of the state’s current senator up for re-election after his first term. While his opponent is still considering our invitation to attend our Leadership Summit this year, we’re going to spend an hour with the Senator to see how his perspectives will help all kids in public schools.

The Governor's Stance on Choice and Charters in Colorado | Wednesday, October 7 | 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Governor Polis has been a long-time supporter of charter schools in Colorado, launching two charter schools for hard to serve populations. The New America School and the Academy of Urban Learning. In this open and wide-open conversation about the Governor’s take on Choice and Charters, our moderator League President, Dan Schaller, will explore the past of charters with the Governor, but also look to the future in a state where 14% of students attend a charter school. What are the limitations, what are the opportunities, where can we go from here, and what might be out on the horizon based on the Governor’s desires and a Democratic legislature.
