Dear Colorado Charter School Community,
The unnecessary death of George Floyd is heartbreaking. We know that this tragedy has surfaced strong emotions, reactions and even questions among our communities, our schools and our students and families. We stand alongside the black community, and our teachers, leaders, students, partners, and families who represent that community. We hear your truth.
The League is here to support our community of schools as we listen, learn, and act to ensure the lives of our students, parents, and educators are respected and protected. We’re proud that charter schools educate a greater share of our state’s students of color. While we certainly don’t have all the answers to ending racism in our world, we are committed to listening to our members and advocating for your needs and the needs of the communities you serve as you ensure educational equity, access, and opportunity for all Colorado students.
We all have a choice to speak or not. To act or not. To behave in ways that change the world, or change our neighborhood, or change our home, or our heart. Please reach out to us to let us know the ways in which the League can support your school and your community as we collectively listen, learn, and act to promote equity and justice within our schools and beyond.
