The League proudly supports all charter school teachers statewide who work every day to create high-quality educational outcomes for their students. To show our appreciation on behalf of teachers we are celebrating one standout teacher each month in various geographical locations across the state and awarding them the Quality, Choice, and Equity award (QCE award). The recognition of teachers kicked off last month.
Each month, The League chooses each teacher through a nomination process. The educator chosen receives the QCE Teacher award – a special award spotlighting how a teacher is implementing a quality education for their students, or using innovative practices to support choice or equity in their classroom or community.
The Colorado League of Charter Schools is proud to celebrate C-pher Bair and Laurie Maier for this month’s award. This teacher team was chosen for the highly successful middle school program they’ve developed for their students at Ross Montessori School in Carbondale. Last month, the League awarded Erin Wahler-Cleveland as the inaugural winner.
C-pher and Laurie were chosen for having created an innovative and highly successful middle school program at Ross Montessori School that maximizes the strengths of adolescents and helps them build their own executive functioning skills. Since 2013, C-pher and Laurie have done just this. The program they developed is effective because it meets adolescents where they are socially, academically and cognitively, builds on their strengths, and effectively prepares them for high school and beyond. Congratulations!
