2019 Educator Summits (formerly Teacher Summit)

Educator Summit Expanding to Three Locations: Colorado Springs, Western Slope, & Denver

By Kia Murray

Director of Academic Services

When I first joined the League in June of 2018, one of my goals as the new Director of Academic Services was to redefine quality professional development. One way the League is doing this is by expanding our offerings to various locations around the state. We serve 255 charter schools across Colorado, however, the majority of our trainings are being held in Denver.

One of these events has been the Teacher Summit which took place annually in the Denver metro area. This year, my colleague Kaci Coats, Director of Exceptional Student Services, and I are offering the Educator Summit (formerly Teacher Summit) in three geographic locations:

Denver Educator Summit: Wednesday, June 5 | 7:45 AM - 3:00 PM | Location TBD | Keynote Speaker: Dr. Maria del Carmen Salazar, Professor at University of Denver

Colorado Springs Educator Summit: Friday, June 7 |  7:45 AM - 3:00 PM | New Summit Charter Academy | Keynote Speaker: Dr. Katie L. Anderson-Pence, Professor at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs

Western Slope Educator Summit: Friday, June 14 | 7:45 AM -  3:00 PM | Two Rivers Community School,  Glenwood Springs | Keynote Speaker: Rob Stein, Superintendent of Roaring Fork Schools

The theme of this year’s Educator Summit is Redefining Quality: Teacher Inputs that Lead to Student Outcomes. Workshop strands will connect directly to increasing student outcomes and cover leadership development, best practices in academics, understanding student behavior, supporting exceptional students, and much more.

Registration available. There will be early bird discounts as well as group discounts to take advantage of.

I hope that by offering this redefined event to various locations across the state, we are able to increase access and opportunity for all educators to attend a high-quality day of professional learning.

I hope to see you there. Any questions or to learn more, please contact me at academic@coloradoleague.org.
