The League's Newest Consultant

The League's NEW Math Consultant -- Juliana Tapper

 

Specializing in engaging math strategies, instructional coaching for secondary mathematics teachers, mathematics leadership coaching, and math in intervention and SPED


Juliana Tapper is an experienced classroom teacher, mentor, PLC facilitator, professional developer, and instructional coach. With urban classroom experience in multiple states as well as district level leadership, she is dedicated to improving the educational opportunities for all students and teachers. Juliana’s work focuses on collaborating with special education and general education math teachers to increase their confidence in the teaching of mathematics and to learn how to engage struggling learners at every level.

 

Juliana will be facilitating the following workshops at the League’s office this spring:


Instructional Coaching in the Mathematics Classroom

Date: Friday, March 20

Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

In this research based session, participants will compare two popular coaching models, apply those to NCTM's Mathematics Teaching Practices, and walk away with a plan for how to coach math teachers at their site.


Cooperative Classroom Structures for Secondary Math 

Date: Friday, February 15

Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Secondary special ed and general ed math teachers will learn and experience five structures that engage ALL students as they also encourage student discourse, perseverance, and reasoning in ways that are appropriate for the secondary level.

 

Maximizing Inclusion: Making data driven decisions for differentiation, scaffolding, modifications, and accommodations 

Date: Friday, March 22

Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

This session will look at standards and vertical alignment to help identify key skills students need in order to be successful at their current grade level and equip participants with strategies to make data driven decisions for special ed students.
