School Overview:

RiseUp Community School strives to provide the most challenging, the richest, the most supportive, and the most engaging high school experience for all students that show up at our doors. Most of our students have met and continue to experience barriers to smooth schooling. We feel it is our responsibility to help diminish barriers and to teach young people how to be agents of change in their lives and communities. Some key aspects of our program are:

General Student Support Team Position Description:

  • Act as a member of the Student Support Team to collectively meet the goals of emotional and mental health support, identify and reduce outside barriers, and prepare students for college and career

  • Services delivered align with current best practices for the field

  • Compliance and Confidentiality regulations are known and followed

  • All staff participate fully or lead the internal professional development. Support staff lead workshops or meetings to help all staff increase their capacity to deliver wrap-around services to students

  • Staff may be asked to or volunteer to do additional duties. They may not receive compensation for these


Duties specific to the Attendance Support position:

  • Monitor the attendance of all students and be able to provide attendance data to students and staff

  • Manage a caseload of students whose attendance falls below 60%

  • Work directly with the Director of Students and the other members of the Student Support Team to determine tiers of intervention for students who are not meeting the 60% attendance threshold

  • Meet with families of students about attendance supports at a location convenient to families

  • The Attendance Support position is located at the front desk in order to facilitate contact with all students and families that enter the school.


Experience and Qualifications:

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree

  • Demonstrated belief in the vision and mission of RiseUp Community School

  • Five years of experience working with youth from traditionally marginalized populations

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

  • Proven ability to develop, manage, maintain, and complete projects

  • Comfort with computer-based data systems
