Description: Are you struggling to understand the impacts of trauma and how to address them in your classroom? Do you want to do more but do not know where to start? This workshop is designed to provide an overview of trauma, its pervasiveness, and trauma impacts on development. Additionally, the workshop unpacks the role trauma can have on learning, regulation, and manifestations at different ages. Lastly, school personnel will learn minor tweaks that can be made to current practices to make them more trauma-sensitive, “catch & calm” techniques for when students are struggling to maintain regulation, and de-escalation techniques for when students are fully escalated. School personnel will take away several trauma-sensitive school-based resources: connection building strategies, de-escalation techniques, sample language stems, and supportive read-alouds.
