Attend three highly engaging workshop strands that will connect directly to increasing student outcomes and cover the topics of leadership development, best practices in academics, understanding student behavior, supporting exceptional students, and much more.

The Colorado Springs keynote speaker will be Katie L. Anderson-Pence.

Katie is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education in the College of Education at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs where she coordinates the elementary licensure programs. A true Ravenclaw at heart, she is most proud of her newly developed course, Teaching in a Muggle World, in which college freshmen examine teaching and learning through the lens of the Harry Potter book series. She also teaches undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in mathematics education and educational psychology.

Prior to joining the faculty at UCCS, Katie spent 8 years as an elementary classroom teachers and two years providing mathematics professional development for her school district. She loves to travel internationally to learn about education in other cultures, and she has visited schools in Egypt and Brazil. In 2014, she earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Mathematics Education and Leadership from Utah State University.

As an educational researcher and former classroom teacher, Katie’s research agenda is driven by a desire to connect research with classroom instructional practice. She believes that the more a teacher knows and understands about how students learn, the more effective he or she will be in delivering instruction. Likewise, the more connected a researcher is to actual classroom situations, the more his or her research will shed light on effective teaching practices. Her primary research interests are on rural education, teacher education, and technology in mathematics education. She is thrilled to be a part of the education community in the Southern Colorado region.

Registration Deadline: Friday, May 31. Event is contingent on a minimum of 75 registrants.
