Complexities of Identifying Students of Color for Gifted Programs

Hosted by the Colorado League of Charter Schools

Date: Monday, March 18

Time: 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Location: TBD

Cost: $80 members | $125 non-members

Description: There is a disproportionately low percentage of students of color in gifted and advanced programs in schools. When evaluating the placement of students of color in all areas of education, more students of color are placed in remedial and special education classes than any other race. During this session, indicators to determine eligibility will be evaluated that incorporate unique and transferable skills for gifted and advanced coursework. Strategies which include culturally sensitive intervention systems will be presented and discussed. Participants will learn procedures with concrete solutions to increase these numbers.

Facilitated by: Shalelia Dillard
Registration Deadline: Wednesday, March 13. Event is contingent on a minimum of 10 registrants.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made on or before the registration deadline will be refunded in full. Unfortunately, cancellations made after the registration deadline will not be refunded.
