Dear Colorado Charter School Community,

capitol denver.jpg

We’re writing to you today with an urgent call to action to help protect our Colorado public charter schools' autonomy, diversity, and innovation. HB24-1363, sponsored by Representative Lorena Garcia, Representative Tammy Story, and Senator Lisa Cutter, was introduced in the Colorado State Legislature late yesterday and aims to undermine some of the most foundational aspects of public charter schools.

Public charter schools are subject to rigorous accountability, transparency, and financial standards under current law and HB24-1363 not only ignores and repeats that existing law but also disrupts well-functioning systems and creates division between charter and traditional schools rather than improving public education. We need your voice to help stop this harmful proposal and ensure that Colorado public charter schools continue to have the flexibility and autonomy they need to be effective.

The bill will be heard first in the House Education Committee, so click here to send a message to all members of that committee to VOTE NO on HB24-1363 in support of our students, schools, and communities.

Thank you for speaking up for Colorado public charter schools.
