Dear School Leaders,

Last week we told you how the League's leadership led to the decisive defeat of HB1363. This week we have another significant legislative development to report on.

Yesterday — in a ceremony attended by the League and other key supporters and sponsors — Governor Polis signed House Bill 1394 into law. This is the bill that once and for all fully equalizes mill levy funding for CSI and the more than 20,000 students that attend CSI schools.

It was a historic day for the Colorado charter school sector. Ever since 2017 when we successfully advocated for the equitable inclusion of district-authorized charters in local mill levy override revenue, we've been fighting alongside CSI to ensure the playing field was level for CSI schools as well.

HB1394 finally accomplishes that and represents another key step forward in the ongoing fight for full equity and recognition for our schools. THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to making this huge accomplishment possible.

This, in conjunction with the buydown of the budget stabilization factor and the anticipated 7.3% increase to PPR that this translates into for next school year, means our schools are once again on track for historically high funding increases next year, and we couldn't be more proud of that fact. Stay tuned for other key legislative developments as we enter the final two and a half weeks of the 2024 Legislative Session.
