What I Do For Charter Schools
(How Charter Schools Will Know Me)
I help educate the public about what charter schools are in order to debunk some of the myths and misinformation that plague charters. I also communicate with Colorado charter schools about the services the League offers to ensure they are taking full advantage of their membership. In addition, I help charter schools with marketing and communications including assistance with crisis communications (please contact me right away if the media is calling and you don’t know what to say), and am available to serve as a thought partner for schools looking for marketing and communications assistance. Recently, I launched the Colorado Charter Schools Networking Meetings where charter school leaders and communications staff can get together with their peers to network and share best practices.
On Charter Public Schools
I have been working with the League since 2008, and honestly when I started I didn’t know what a charter public school was. Since then I have visited dozens of charters across the state and have seen the many types and models of charter school in action. I’ve seen school leaders who are incredibly committed to providing students with a bright future. During my three-year tenure on the board of directors at a charter high school in Colorado Springs, I saw students blossom and go on to have successful futures thanks to their charter school.
Before joining the League in 2008, I worked as the Director of Marketing at JEWISHColorado. When not working, my husband and I are taking care of our twins. I volunteer for a local non-profit called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, and previously served on the boards of CIVA Charter High School and Denver Venture School. I received my B.A. of Arts in Communications from the University of Colorado Denver in 2000 and a Certificate in Graphic and Web Design from Platt College in 2002.
