|New School Grant Opportunities|
The League offers a variety of supports to assist charter school planning teams in accessing startup funds. For example, the League oversees the Walton Family Grant Partners Program in which we help identify candidates for the Walton Family Foundation (WFF) startup grants and coordinate the grant application process with applicants and the WFF. Some WFF grants are restricted to Denver Public Schools or to new schools planning to have a high percentage of students eligible for free and reduced price meals.
Planning GrantsWhether you are in the earliest stages of developing a charter school, have been approved and working towards opening your doors or are somewhere in between, the League offers small, incremental planning grants to address your new school development needs at every stage! The League’s planning grants are designed to align with the process of writing your charter application and are made possible thanks to the generous philanthropic support that the League receives from the Anschutz Foundation and the Daniels Fund.
Early stages of developing your charter application - Do you need funds to travel to conferences, visit schools that use the model you are exploring, launch marketing and student outreach campaigns or hire consultants to help you with the academic, legal or financial aspects of school startup? There are planning grants for that!
Later stages of charter application writing - Do you need funds to continue your outreach efforts, acquire the League’s extensive two-part application review, put the finishing touches on your application, or print the required hard copies of the application? There are planning grants for that, too!
Charter Application has been submitted and/or approved - Do you need funds to hire legal counsel to help you with contract negotiations, pay the application fee for your 501 (c) (3), recruit excellent school leadership and staff, bring in experienced Governance trainers for your board or hire an architect for facilities planning? You guessed it - there are planning grants for that as well!
Funding available to schools is limited to the amounts received by the League.
There are no deadlines associated with these planning grants; grant proposals are accepted on a rolling basis. Groups must contact Lori Ventimiglia at 303-989-5356 ext. 113 to determine fund availability and eligibility before submitting an application.
