Director of School Quality & Support
What I Do For Charter Schools
(How Charter Schools Will Know Me)
I support Colorado charter public schools by providing them with various opportunities for academic and instructional development to support continuous growth and ongoing quality via student performance. I am fortunate to work with an amazing team of professionals in the Colorado League of Charter Schools' Quality and Support department who dedicate their time to quality development in the areas of performance management and governance. As a team, we will remain relentless in providing support and enhancing quality in Colorado charter public schools.
On Charter Public Schools
In 1999, when I moved to Colorado from La Crosse, Wisconsin, I began in the classroom, serving the needs of several charter public schools in Denver. My career has revolved around charter public schools ever since. The school-level experience I bring to the League includes roles as ELA-T teacher, ELA Coordinator, Student Achievement Director, Vice-Principal, and Charter School Co-Founder. And now, as the League's Director of School Quality and Support, my mission remains the same. I am fortunate to be able to broaden the scale of my work in support of quality educational options for students and families in Colorado.
With early experience in various charter public school models, I pursued a path where I could increase the scope of my efforts with schools by developing structures that improve student performance and achievement. Along the way, I have learned from a variety of national school reform models. It is a priority to continue to learn about different ways to offer quality choices to students in Colorado. In addition to the day-to-day details of classroom teaching, opening and supporting start up schools and leading, I have witnessed success first hand from the teachers I’ve coached and the schools I’ve supported. I look forward to the same outcome from my role at the Colorado League of Charter Schools.
I received my Bachelor’s Degrees in Sociology and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix. I hold certificates from Denver Public Schools for English Language Development Administrator and I am a Certified Trainer for Year 1 and Year 2 English Language Development Teacher Courses. I am also recognized as a National Common Core State Standards Trainer for English Language Education. I live in Denver with my husband and children.
