Charter schools are unique public schools in that they have a board of directors at the school level, where traditional public schools are governed by the local school district's board of directors.
With this being the case, effective governance is a critical component to a high-quality charter school. It is a best practice for charter school boards to engage in professional growth opportunities and focus on continuous improvement as a board and a school. The League offers a number of support services, resources and training opportunities for charter schools including the following.
