What I Do For Charter Schools
(How Charter Schools Will Know Me)
I direct the League’s governmental affairs efforts, working with our Governmental Affairs Committee, board, staff, partners, and legislative liaisons to develop and execute the League’s annual legislative agenda. I advocate for high-quality charter public schools at the district, state, and federal level, I assist schools with their advocacy needs, and I coordinate advocacy efforts among charter parents, teachers, staff and other supporters.
On Charter Public Schools
I believe that we need to continuously find ways to enhance public education opportunities for all Colorado students. Charter public schools, because of their increased autonomy and accountability, are powerful tools for creating innovative education models that benefit our entire education system.
I came to Colorado in 2003 as part of a volunteer teaching program and taught for five years at a Denver high school. I then returned to graduate school for public policy and spent several years working for various education policy-related organizations, most recently serving as the Senior Director of Strategy and Communications with the Denver Preschool Program. When not at the League, I enjoy running, reading, traveling, and spending time with my wife and two daughters. I have a B.A. in Political Science from St. Louis University, a Master’s in Secondary Education from Regis University, and a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Denver.
