Himmelman Construction Breaks Ground on Lakewood Montessori School Project

LAKEWOOD, Colorado -- Himmelman Construction, Inc. (Himmelman), a privately held commercial General Contractor headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado, announced today the commencement of construction on Great Work Montessori School (Great Work) located at 5300 W. Center Avenue in Lakewood, CO.  This new 40,000 square foot, 3-story educational facility was designed by MOA Architecture of Denver, CO.  In its first year, the capacity for this new charter school will be 250 students ranging from twelve months through third grade, growing by a grade each year. At full capacity, the school will accommodate 370 students up to eighth grade with a staff of 45. Vanir Construction Management, Inc. is providing owner’s representative services.


The new school includes ten classrooms, a library, multiple common areas, a cafeteria, and approximately 3.5 acres of outdoor learning environments. Multiple modular buildings are planned at an adjacent farm property for the development of the school’s future farming program. The project is scheduled to be completed within 12 months.


A groundbreaking celebration will be held Saturday, May 20th 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 5300 W. Center Avenue. The official ceremony will take place at 4:15 p.m. followed by a food and entertainment at the adjacent farm property at 5429 W. Center Ave. Invitees include the greater Montessori community, local dignitaries, board members from Great Work and Jefferson County Public Schools (Jeffco Schools) and newly enrolled students and their families.
