2015 Charter School Policy & Facility Summit

Hosted by Colorado League of Charter Schools

Date: Monday, October 12

Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Location: Denver Police Protective Association Event Center, 2105 Decatur Street, Denver, CO 80211

Cost: $55 per person for schools that are members of the Colorado League of Charter Schools | $75 per person for non-members. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Description: The 2015 Charter School Policy and Facility Summit will provide charter school leaders with important information about ongoing policy issues affecting charter schools as well as potential 2016 legislation that could impact charters. Attendees will also hear from individuals experienced in all aspects of the charter school facilities process and learn decision-making best practices regarding facilities projects for their schools.

The Colorado Charter School Policy and Facility Summit will feature: 

 

Policy

  • Participants will hear from policymakers and experts on some of the ongoing policy issues that directly impact charter schools.
  • Attendees will learn about, and examine, some of the policy proposals that will be likely targets for the 2016 legislative session.

 

Facilities

Attendees will learn best practices regarding school facility financing and navigating the facilities planning process. Charter school leaders will have the opportunity to speak with school leaders that have been in their shoes and  obtain valuable insights from professional experts in the school facility industry.  Additionally, attendees will walk away from the Summit with the resources and tools needed to:

  • Evaluate financing opportunities.
  • Understand and manage the costs associated with development, design and construction of a facility.
  • Develop a plan for the school’s facilities project. Schools interested in applying for a BEST grant will also have an opportunity to hear from staff at the Capital Construction Division at CDE and a BEST board member on application tips and best practices.
